Season 1 Episode 6
Gossip Girl Episodes :-The Handmaiden’s Tale
It’s the time for another social event for the Manhattan’s Upper East Side people and it is the Masquerade Ball that is creating the buzz all over. Serena Van der Woodsen is quite unsure whether Dan Humphrey would be interested to come for the ball but her friend Blair Waldorf is pretty certain that he is so head over heels for Serena that he would follow her everywhere she wished. But she catches the hesitant look on Serena’s face and she is stunned and asks her whether she thinks that Dan is going out with someone else too. Serena shuts Blair up and telephones Dan and comes to know that some part of the Blair’s suspicion was very true. This because Dan is not all alone at the moment but has the company of his former close friend, Vanessa, who had left the city a year ago as Dan had serious feelings for her. Serena has heard Vanessa’s voice but Dan lies to her that it’s Jenny with him but his lie is busted as Jenny Humphrey enters Blair’s room to join them. A very disturbed Serena quickly wraps up the conversation with Dan and keeps down the phone.
Jenny Humphrey is trying to help Blair Waldorf in organizing and managing the Masquerade Ball, in hope that she could then attend the event too. But Blair, who is quite enthusiastic for the Ball, does not want any outsiders in the event, and gives Jenny the cold vibes. The reason for enthusiasm for Blair also stems from the fact that she feels that it would be her special night with her boyfriend Nate Archibald and thus she is very excited about it.
Dan’s friend Vanessa has confided to Rufus Humphrey, Dan’s father that she has returned for Dan as after staying away from him for some time, she understood that she loves him too.
Time for the Masquerade Ball to start. Dan Humphrey has been asked out by Vanessa but he skips the appointment for Serena, who is damn bored in the company of a guy, her friend Blair has set up her with. Serena talks out to Dan about the lies he had told her, but Dan confesses that there is nothing going on between Vanessa and him. Vanessa at this point of time is standing just behind Serena and Dan and is pained to hear Dan’s words. Just as Dan notices her presence, Vanessa runs away and Dan, dashes after her, leaving in order to stop her. Serena is left standing all alone making a puzzled face.
Jenny Humphrey is another guest in mask, who has not been invited to the Masquerade Ball but nevertheless gatecrashes like her brother. With Vanessa’s help, Jenny has disguised herself very well and attempts to teach Chuck a lesson, who had tried to rape her in the “Kiss on the Lips” party. She invites him half naked on the roof but a very excited Chuck is suddenly very miserable after coming on the roof, as he is locked out by Jenny.
Serena still can’t accept the fact that Dan went after Vanessa and talks the issue out with Jenny who assures her not to bother herself with Vanessa as Dan and Vanessa are only friends. These lines pleases Serena, to the extent that as she leaves she hands over her jacket and mask to Jenny not even realizing what maybe the consequences of this act.
