Season 1 Episode 2
Gossip Girl Episodes :-The Wild Brunch
The Manhattan’s Upper East Side is an extremely socially active place where one event is very soon followed by another. So, as soon as Blair Waldorf’s ‘Kiss On The Lips Party’ is over, the preparations are on for the Sunday Brunch at The Palace and the cream is invited. So obviously Dan Humphrey has been left out of the invitation.
But not being invited to the Sunday Brunch is not an agenda bothering Dan’s mind, It’s the way he bid Serena goodbye, is making him feel guilty. It was just a half hearted wave. In another place, the now goodie good girl Serena, briefs her brother Eric on the whole “goodbye wave” episode. Astonished Eric claims that he “wouldn’t have taken Dan for a waver.”
Dan is considering taking Serena on a date and in the meantime Serena goes to meet Blair, who is cold and unreceptive to her presence. Blair Waldorf tells her very curtly that she should stay away from her circle of friends and her boyfriend as the whole sex story has spread like a wildfire.
At The Sunday Brunch’s venue, The Palace, Lillian van der Woodsen also arrives and she is not very happy about Dan waiting for Serena as she thinks her daughter is too sophisticated in comparison with the son of her former artist boyfriend but she is equally happy to see Blair Waldorf’s boyfriend, Nate Archibald looking for her daughter. It happens that Chuck, who had tried to take advantage of Jenny, Dan’s younger sister at the ‘Kiss On The Lips’ party wants to avenge Dan for punching him, and Nate Archibald proceeds to take Chuck away in order to avoid any confrontation between Dan and Chuck.
Jenny, in the meantime, meets Blair Waldorf to take some advice on friendship matters. When she realizes that Jenny is the sister of Serena’s date, Blair decides to use her for her advantage and introduces her into her elite inner circle by gifting her ‘Eleanor Original’, a very expensive dress commonly known to everyone as “the uniform of B’s private army.”
Serena is at The Palace and Dan immediately apologizes to her for the whole goodnight wave thing and asks her to have lunch with him but he is interrupted as Lillian comes by and takes Dan and Serena to The Sunday Brunch where Blair is appalled by Serena’s presence and Chuck is very much sure that her presence would be a great fun.
Although Nate knows that Blair is scrutinizing his every move but still he catches a moment with Serena and asks her to meet him in Chuck’s room for some serious talks. Serena is hesitant but finally she goes, leaving Dan alone. But things go bit sour as Blair also tries to have some intimate moments with Nate and also lands up in Chuck’s room causing a grueling verbal duel.

The Sunday Brunch does not turn out to be very good for Dan as he learns about the affair of Serena’s mother with Chuck’s father. And on top of it all, Chuck speaks out about Nate and Serena’s sexual encounter. Dan Humphrey is very hurt and he leaves Serena, asking her not to bother and not taking her along with him. At home, Dan informs Jenny and Rufus that he and Serena can never be together. Nate Archibald shows Blair two paths they can take: Either to break up or forgive and forget .Although they make up, still Serena is present in their minds.
As Gossip Girl says: “We hear S left today’s brunch with no friends, no boy, nowhere left to run. It looks like the ultimate insider has become a total outsider. It’s your move Serena, and no one will be watching.”
